Meet Kari Curry, Program Manager, Event Medicine for Harness Health Partners

To celebrate Black History Month, Harness Health Partners is excited to feature some of our incredible employees.

We asked our employees, to share stories of what gets them excited each day, what they are most proud of, why they enjoy working at Harness, and highlight how a figure in black history shaped their career or life.

What does black history month mean to you?

Black history month is a celebration of not only historical, but current black excellence. It is a month of empowerment and encouragement for individuals to understand that through strategy, perseverance, activism, initiative, and courage comes virtue. It is a moment to reflect and thank those that have paved the way for me as a black professional, a moment to sit and admire the stories about activism from my grandmothers, and my father’s rough hands after a hard day’s work. During the month of February, I learn things about black history that may not have known before and facts that I can pass down to my children. Let’s recognize the great impact that black culture has had in the successes of many!

Why do you love being in employee solutions for the health care industry?

I love working with employee solutions because no day is like the day before. There are many different types of entities that we can be involved with; from construction sites, sporting events, to concert venues, and community service-related events. We can offer care to all!

Why did you choose your area of specialty and what is the most rewarding aspect of practicing in your discipline?

I chose my specialty because I enjoy encouraging people that may have had a setback and helping them make a comeback. With event medicine, seeing individuals have a good time, feeling comfortable, and safe is incredibly rewarding. Also, being there to assist someone in a vulnerable moment during an event is a good feeling. I’m excited to be around a gang of clinicians that want to see their community members thrive.
